Chris Doss -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Yeah, but Jefferson would never have existed in the first place without the Enlightenment/Reformation, which were in turn (roughly) reactions to the middle ages (sort of), of which Aquinas is generally considered the emblematic thinker. But I suppose with this logic we would have to go back to the breakup of Pangaia...

^^^^ CB: I thought the Enlightenment/Reformation was a reflection in superstructure of the revolution in base/infrastructure, i.e. the bourgeois revolution overthrowing the feudal mode of production in Europe.
