Since the black population is statistically both more fundamentalist and more economically leftist than the general population, you could just as easily argue the opposite.

What's the evidence of that?

Belief in inerrancy is widespread in the South. Political conservatism is widespread in the South. Don't you think both are probably caused by the same thing - a historically backward, rural, labor-repressive social structure - rather than one causing the other?
