His weekly stuff on *Slate* are kind of stale and really hit or miss, but I still read his monthly work for *Vanity Fair *and *The Atlantic*. Tales of Hitchens' demise as a writer are premature, he still has it (aesthetically I mean). On the other hand his newish short biography of Thomas Paine was absolutely glib trash. I'm still planning to review his memoir when it comes out (or hopefully snag an advanced reading copy).
