Dubya at the Washington correspondents' dinner in 2004:

George Bush's material included a slide show and a commentary about the motivation for war with Iraq.

GEORGE W BUSH, US PRESIDENT: Those weapons of mass destruction have got to be somewhere.

(Audience Laugh) Nope, no weapons over there.

(Audience laugh) APPLAUSE

NORMAN HERMANT: The President received a rousing ovation.

But critics are already pointing out that families of those killed in Iraq won't find his comments nearly as amusing.

Obama at the same dinner the other night:

At the White House Correspondents' Dinner Saturday night, President Obama noted that in the audience were the Jonas brothers.

"Sasha and Malia are huge fans," he said, "but boys, don't get any ideas. Two words for you: predator drones. You will never see it coming."

The audience laughed approvingly but in the following days the joke has been met with a rising chorus of criticism -- mainly from the Left.
