It does seem to require an almost unsustainable commitment to purity. Another corrupting fact: Noam draws a paycheck from MIT, which gets gobs of money from the Pentagon. Therefore, Noam is a tool of the war machine?
I dunno. Given Chomsky's great distinction as a linguist, he could have lived a life of ease and comfort as an academic star of the first order. He chose four decades of political engagement instead. I think the guy deserves admiration, not sniping.
