Joanne Landy: In this email: Three items on Afghan Women and the War:1) CPD Letter to The New York Times, 2) Malalai Joya article in The Guardian, and 3) Nicholas Kristof Op Ed in The New York Times. * * * * * Campaign for Peace and Democracy's unpublished letter to The New York Times on Afghan women and the war. 10/25/10 ======

I stopped reading at this point. What follows is certain to be painfullll, since there can be no combination of peace and democracy in Afghanistan. One can have _both_ war and tyranny, or one can have tyranny and peace. Hopes for peace and democracy under present conditions is an excellent example of sandbox bolitics: pundits moving political forces around in their brain as though those forces were cardboard cows and barns in a sandbox.
