1) for nose and sinus You might pick up Neilmed saline solution bottles. Like neti pots only more volume. Overpriced but not easy to duplicate. Basically just a plastic squeeze bottle sized to put a high volume of saline solution from one nostril to another. Washes the stuff out of the sinuses better than either standard saline solution or even standard neti pots. The "patent" saline solution is just a standard mixture of baking soda and salt like earnosethroad people recommended for years. But for prolonged one time use, that is daily use for a few weeks or a month, probably better just to buy the $25 commercial product.
2) For ears hydrogen peroxide in each ear. Google to find out how to do this effectively.
3) Gargle with listerine - 60 seconds instead of 30 if you can stand it.
Don't guarantee that this won't kill you. I do the Neilmed and listerine myself, but never tried the peroxide in ear. I understand that if you have harded wax in your ears peroxide can cause real problems. I think some people use olive oil to soften wax first. Again this part I have not tried.
The idea is that by applying antiseptics to mouth and throat, nose and sinuses, plus ears, you are killing bacteria and some viruses and also washing out them out so your body has fewer to fight. The flonase reduces inflamation but this other stuff washes some of the viruses out and kills others. Not a doctors and could be totally quack stuff. On the other hand the Neilmed was reccomended to me by an earnosethroat specialists, and the listerine works for me when starting to get sore throat. And I have friends who swear by the hydrogen peroxide. Might be worth a shot. -- Facebook: Gar Lipow Twitter: GarLipow Grist Blog: http://www.grist.org/member/1598 Static page: http://www.nohairshirts.com
