Wojtek:
> When was the last time you were in Europe, Carrol?
This is not even a parody of an argument.
Would you care to actually deal with the substance of Carrol's claims concerning citizenship laws in Germany?
On the essentials he is correct. Red-Green did some mild reforms to the laws during their term in office, but that only covers children born since 1990. Furthermore, those children are not allowed to retain dual citizenship of Germany and the country of their parents.
The reluctance to deal with what a deeply racist society the Federal Republic is, where vicious racists like Thilo Sarrazin top the best seller lists and Bild is the most widely read and circulated newspaper, speaks volumes.
The position of the American liberal idealizers toward Europe could probably be summarized as: Welfare state, yes! Brown people, no!
Now at least I understand why Europe constitutes a sort of utopia for white American liberals.
