It's not that I wanted moralizing and psychologizing...but some context would have helped. The movie was OK about triangulating these events with the rise of the PLO and the Vietnam war, but it said nothing about the failed deNazification of Germany, nohting about decolonialization, and absolutely nothing about the class background of the gang nor of their political awareness or work . It did not explain why 1/4 of Germans under forty approved of their doings; it did not explain why Ulrike took the kids with her and just as suddenly threw them off....etc. I could go on and on.
There was an encyclopedic quality to the movie, but if what they were trying to do is to portray Baader is the reactive "other" of the autocratic state, I would have still liked to know/understand more.
