The speech was a heartfelt paeon to the imperial "we". Not a word about the crimes of Empire, its 60-year Terror War on the rest of the planet, its 750 military bases, its gulags, its hideous social polarization, its lunatic financial bubbles. Not a word about the $4 billion which purchases US politicians or the $1 trillion pissed away on military-industrial boondoggles or the $14 trillion handed over in Wall Street bailouts.
