Why do you insist on equating socialism with 20th century one-party states?
Unlike some Leftists, I don't blame Cuba for its geopolitical situation. It became a garrison state because it was and still is under siege by a cruel and illegal US blockade. Despite the siege, Cuba has developed certain aspects of a socialist society worth celebrating -- world-class healthcare and education, a lively civil society, etc. But it's a complex place, and has all the contradictions shared by the rest of the planet.
