This brings to mind the legendary story that appeared in the NYT back in 2003 or 2004, telling the tale of the US G.I. from West Virginia who mocked Iraq for its cultural backwardness, the telltale sign of which was the absence of Chick-Fil-A, Krystal, KFC, Pizza Hut, Sonic, Taco Bell, etc.
