Angelus: Nice try, but that's not what's being debated. The question is ideological illusions among U.S. liberals concerning a mythical German welfare state that has been subject to attack since the late-1970s and a neo-mercantilist policy of export-oriented growth resting upon a consistent policy of low domestic wages.

Somebody: I get it. You're *never* going to address any question whose answer might undermine your ideological fixations. Just like you're *never* going to respond to any criticism of your nasty, brutish behavior on this list.

After all, if you conceded that, on balance, Germany had a more expansive safety net or a lower poverty rates than the U.S., than it would provide a rational explanation for the views of the American left. Heaven forbid the facts might contradict your vituperative rants.
