Yeah, I definitely agree, and think that when writers and readers scream at each other over intellectual property, they need to stand back and look at why markets don't let them easily fund freely-distributable knowledge... They're each right and wrong, so it often gets really ugly.

(Blocking ads is a real issue. After all, a big part of socialism is about workers being compensated for their labor. But then again, ads are used to compile huge databases on you, and these companies are laughably bad at keeping your private info secure.)

But just so I wouldn't embarass myself too much earlier, I made sure to check that people on this mailing list recently did reprint whole articles, without being called on it. ;)

And I have to admit... if I were in Michael Albert's shoes, would I necessarily act differently? I don't know what his job is like, but maybe I'd come up with all sorts of justifications to do as he does...
