Fear not, I've been keeping track of the Libyan revolution, and the rebels are a genuine opposition. Most Libyans detest Qaddafi and his thugs. They've been fighting like hell against brigades equipped with heavy weaponry bought from the UK, France, Italy and Russia.
The UN air campaign has been limited, because the UN has a mandate to save civilian lives, as opposed to blasting the infrastructure to smithereens. But despite their lack of weapons and training, the Free Libyan Army now controls slightly more than half the country's terrain, its second and third largest cities, and two-thirds of its population. They've freed the eastern cities, freed nearly all the Western mountain region, defeated Qaddafi's goons in Misurata, and are now freeing Zliten (on the road to Tripoli).
