Your co-commentator on the CBC Jack Mintz does not seem to take a position even close to the U.S. right. He suggests there should be a VAT tax in the U.S. and that not only should the rich be taxed more as you suggest but everyone else as well as a way of raising revenue. This would go over like a lead balloon in the U.S. and with liberals as well I should think. What is your answer to Mintz argument about Budget Office forecasts. He says that it is unlikely that tax cuts will be dropped and taxes increased much given the political climate. He also says that growth will be slower than predicted. The IMF projection is considerable lower 2.8 versus 3.2 for BO. It now looks as if growth will slow if not even decline.
