I see academia as contested territory. It is no accident that Powell's
infamous memo took pains to point the the University.  Since then (and
even before), the right has steamrollered economics & leaves
literature and the like as relatively more free.  Like Hitler in
James's citation (but from the opposite side of the struggle), I still
think a struggle to redeem the universities is worth the effort.
