Okay, but the question was, what on earth do the Weathermen have to do with the essay about Oakland to which shag posted a link? If I understand it, and you, it makes some points -- very sound ones, I think -- which you have also made.

I haven't read the essay; I was responding to the reference in Doug's post, and I very seriously want to warn people that even as a metaphor references to Weatherman will lead to degradation of political discourse and political thought. I am still sad that Ron Jacobs wrote a book on them. However you approach them, to do so is to distort history and to distort current thought.
