The Wiesenthal Center resorts to outright lying in its list of the "Top Ten Anti-Semitic Slurs of 2011".
In its number 9 slot, it attributes the following quotation to Herman Dierkes, chairman of Die Linke in the city of Duisburg:
"“Oppose the moral blackmail of the so-called Holocaust! [“Wahrheit macht Frei!”] Truth makes free!”
Except that, as anyone knows who has been following the controversy concerning alleged antisemitism in Die Linke, the quotation comes from an anonymous flyer posted on the website of Die Linke Duisburg (a website that allowed open posting), from which Dierkes and the rest of the leadership distanced itself immediately.
Not even the most stalwart apologists for Israel within Germany engaged in the monstrous lie of actually attributing this flyer to Dierkes.
This is really a new low, where outright lying and the misattribution of quotations is an admissable tactic for smearing leftists.
