The statement in the Manifesto that all history has been a history of
class conflict is manifestly wrong in the light of Marx's critique of
political economy, with its central theoretical pillar of commodity
fetishism. Class (and class conflict) in Marx's developed thinking are
restricted to capitalism.

CB: Wrong. Marx's developed thinking about pre-capitalist modes of
production is in Engels'_The Origin of the Family, Private Property
and the State_ . Class struggle plays a central role right from the
rip in the origin of private property.
