The head of the Catholic church in England and Wales, the Archbishop of Westminster, caused controversy in his Christmas message when he condemned the forced eviction of 50 families in Bethlehem by the Israeli state to make way for the apartheid wall. And the leading churchman in the Church of England also aroused controversy in his Christmas message when he equated rioters with financial speculators in the City of London.
