the Mondragon Cooperative Corporation has never fired anyone, instead if cooperative of a member (worker owner) needs to downsize the cooperative group moves that person within the cooperative group

when we visited Mondragon (the town Arrasate in Basque) half of the 100+ cooperatives where losing money and there was a lot of redistribution and mutual support within the group

interestingly, Mondragon developed under an anti-Basque Francoist fascoid regime of Spanish autarky

Mondragon is not some hippy dippy food coop completely isolated from other businesses, its a worker owned multinational industrial corporation

when we visited they where building a big new research park, they where doing a nano-technology research venture with non other than Microsoft
