Brad: We are exploited because we are alienated from the products of our labor. That doesn't splinter the working class, it constitutes it. If you are throwing exploitation out the window then what is left of your left politics, Carrol?
Somebody: But, clearly there are other left-wing values than exploitation of labor. After all, if the only question was whether or not workers are alienated from the product of their labor, we would favor an economy of petty proprietors. So, there could be quite a bit left of left politics without concerning oneself with the implications of the labor theory of value, a theory of dubious validity anyway.
