The leap in political organizing might be something like an actual
mass vanguard, or the masses "themselves" as vanguard. This is a
"leap" over a vanguard _party_ ( See _What Is To Be Done_ by Vladimir
Lenin on need for vanguard party; spontaneity of the masses). The New
Social Media may have allowed the masses in Tunisia and Egypt to
acting "consciously" and less spontaneously in some sense. It
probably helped in organizing and conducting rallies and strikes.
A bit of the IWW, one Big People, flavor , hey Mike ?

It is a plausible hypothesis that the New Social Media or Interactive
Media increased the efficiency and effectiveness in agitating,
propagandizing and organizing masses in Egypt's uprising over the Old
Social or Interactive Media. Cellphones, laptops, email, facebook,
twitter, text messages filled with political messages instead of
apolitical messages could create a leap in political organizing.
