[lbo-talk] labor leadership not so sure about Wisconsin

Thank you Alan

Lack of organization is a weakness here (as is the acquiescent influence of the Democratic party). The solidarity is real but only as a feeling. There is growing recognition of the objective power working people have to shut things down but it's slow. Occupying the Capitol and the huge rallies are wonderful but symbolic - striking seems to be the only serious power we have, and it's being discussed now beyond the little IWW camps.

I think Walker (who is merely a detail) and those he represents would gladly wait until August to reenter the Capitol if it meant getting what they wanted. Shutting shit down, on the other hand, might hit where it hurts.

I take the observations (not the handwringing) in the article seriously - that's why people in other states need to start organizing and preparing NOW! I know you're going to experience your struggle differently and it may seem like i am suggesting you read tea leaves (sorry Carroll ;-)), but you know our weaknesses so dont repeat them. All the pizzas we owe you should help! On Feb 21, 2011 8:13 AM, "Alan Rudy" <alan.rudy at gmail.com> wrote:
