[lbo-talk] Obama wriggles on DOMA hook

Faced with the unpalatable burden of continuing publicly to defend the constitutionality of DOMA in his appeal against court decisions recognizing its unconstitutionality, Obama has decided to punt by dropping out of the argument on the grounds that he now, after enforcing it for two years and defending it in every court case, admits that it is (as is obvious on its face) unconstitutional. End of DOMA? You must be kidding! This is his AG speaking: "Mr. Holder said that the administration would continue to enforce the act unless and until Congress repeals it, or a court delivers a “definitive verdict against the law’s constitutionality”."

Since Congress will obviously not repeal it, and the SCOTUS will not consider the cases until at least 2012 (and then can put off giving its "definitive verdict," which with this court is more likely than not to uphold any unconstitutional law favored by "conservatives," until long after the next election), this lying demagogue of a president (who just last week had the barefaced nerve to call one of his Blackwater gunsels, who shot two people in the back and called it "self-defense," "our diplomat") will continue undisturbed in denying citizens the constitutional rights to which he himself admits they are entitled.
