This is excellent. I don't mean the content of the post. I think I'd disagree with many of the implicit premises of the post, let alone the explicit conclusions and style of presenting his critique. But that is all okay. What I really mean is that I find it excellent that Bhaskar (or, for that matter, any other young, smart person committed to the struggles of the left in the U.S. or the rich capitalist world) is interested and wants to be involved in the attempt to build socialism in Latin America.

It'd be great if Bhaskar's and the views of other leftists critical of Venezuela were communicated to the people in situ, which would require as a first step to translate them into Spanish -- because, although much is lost in translation, much more is lost by not translating at all.

A thought I have is that it would be great if Bhaskar got in touch with Camila Piñeiro, who lives now in Cuba but whose email can be easily googled. Camila has studied very closely the cooperative experience in Venezuela, and an exchange of views with her on the topic would be fruitful.
