Are you claiming you don't believe this was politically motivated? You really think some Tea Party nut-job differentiates one Dem from another? It will be interesting to see how reporters cover for Palin's "Hit List" with cross-hairs over Gifford's name and try to claim there is absolutely no connection between the two. Or the anti-Gifford posters with "Get on Target for Victory in November. Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office. Shoot a fully automatic M16 with Jesse Kelly." printed on them. Gifford's office has been vandalized and at an event last year someone dropped a handgun, yet U.S. Capitol Police say there were no threats against her. Was someone bringing her a gun as a gift last year?

Or do you mean this won't be politically significant for Dems? If the gunman is a Tea Party member I don't see how this can't be significant for Dems. If he's an unaffiliated right-wing freak it would be harder to make political capital from this. There is a chance the Dems make no attempt to call the right to account for this and the media will certainly help them in that endeavour.

Does this have any political meaning? She was a Blue Dog, for god's sake. ___________________________________ http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/mailman/listinfo/lbo-talk
