Yes, there's a skit about that in "Life of Brian." It's the "Great people, the Romans" one with the old codger who has been hanging upside down in a cell a good deal of his life and who has come to see the light.

I mean, what could be better than entering the world market?

Perhaps it's the Tunisia effect but suddenly the New York Times seems to have fallen in love with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as evidenced by Saturday's puff piece on the President's slashing of domestic subsidies for oil and food.  

The article quotes a fifty year old schoolteacher and mother of two who is enthusiastic about making her family wear warmer clothes in the winter instead of lighting a gas fireplace because "it will help us enter the world market".
