Below is a link to a long video of John Ross, talking at a bookstore event 
April 2010, in Baltimore. It gave me some idea of what his writing is like. 
When I was first a student I went in a big way for the beat writers that 
used a kind of run on style mixing art and politics together in a forceful 
way. Ross gets into this mode while reading selections of his and others.

The first reading comes in about nine minutes, from Iraqi Girl. It is a 
selection of blogs written by an Iraqi girl blogger starting when she is 
about fourteen.

More generally, Ross gives the current generations some taste of what it was 
like to learn about the world, politics, and the potential radicalism 
embedded in the arts  from fifty years ago. It's a potential that seems to 
have been effectively erased and subverted.
