How much do we _want_ students to read or learn?
What do we want them to learn?
Why should they learn what "we" want them to learn _or_ what anyone else wants them to learn.
Which is more important of the following:
1. That students learn more
2. That teachers be well paid and have job security
I of course assume the first is silly; the second is crucial.
