In 1970, the New Left Review spun off a publishing company, Verso, from which now emerges The Verso Book of Dissent: From Spartacus to the Shoe-Thrower of Baghdad. "Dissent" is the new rubric—a chastened choice in the post-1989 world—but then where shall the editors, Andrew Hsiao and Audrea Lim, draw the line? Todd Gitlin

Just a sidenote. The most crushing indictment of Israel and the Zionist project I ever read was Shlomo Sand, The Invention of the Jewish People. It was published in English by Verso. So I am completely unmoved by hints from Gitlin that Verso is somehow under the shackels of the Zionist lobby of NYC.
As somebody who is exactly his age, experience, and background sans papier, Gitlin is an idiot and a bad scholar. I am ashamed he is supposed to speak for my generation. But SDS types were always like that. For sectarian humor, imagine the University of Michigan marching to Berkeley to announce the revolution. Fuck you Todd.
