What has Cockburn been smoking? Some of the biggest howlers: Tripoli's population is not 4 million, only 2 million live in the entire Tripoli region, and that includes regional centers like Zawiya. Demographically speaking, the majority of Libyans now live in regions outside Qaddafi's control. The scale of the bombing has been tiny, and limited to military targets, because it's a UN peacekeeping operation designed to minimize the loss of Libyan life. That's been the right decision -- the revolutionaries are slowly and patiently freeing their country.

Shamefully, Cockburn does not cite one actual Libyan citizen or independent media source -- the liberated city of Benghazi alone has something like 100 newspapers now, and media cites and sources are plentiful on the web.
