I would agree that Mamet's conversion is mostly about a perceived belief that liberals and the Democratic Party have turned their back on Israel as defined by the political agenda of the Likud Party. What's shocking about the conversion is how total it is and how eager Mamet seems to bed down with the Tea Party branch of the Republican Party. I haven't read the book but I'm curious as to what he makes of a Tea Party which is simultaneously Christian Zionist and anti-interventionist and in the case of the Rand Paul contingent not particularly supportive of sending billions to Israel in aid.
