I hadn't known. How hard did he push for it?

By an odd coincidence, I just spoke on the phone with an old acquaintance of mine, guy I haven't heard from in quite some time, who's a bit of a political insider in NYC. He told me, for what it's worth, that the Waggler's colleagues didn't love him. Arrogant, pushy, presumptuous, thought everybody was stupider than he was, and let his thoughts show on his face. Every anti- Semitic cliche in the book, in fact; except in Weiner's case, Deep Throat says, it was all true.

So maybe there's an Inside Baseball aspect of the story which all our deep Marxist theoreticians could hardly be expected to anticipate.
