I think he told Biden to fuck off over the Bush tax cut extension
thing...or something to that effect.  He was one of the people leading
the fight against Obama on that.  That is probably why he is going.  I
don't know how much his personality came into play, (aren't most
politicians arrogant, pushy, presumptuous and think everyone is dumber
than them) but his politics were a mix mash that prevented any caucus
or group to rally around him.
