[lbo-talk] Why I love Wikipedia [was: Why I hate Wikipedia]

Starting about 10 years ago my retrieval of proper names began to weaken. The earliest instance I remember was when I wanted to mention Edmund Burke in a post -- and had to grab an anthology off the shelf a few feet away to check the table of contents. The problem has grown since then. I'll remember even the jacket design and a number passages, as well as the title, andnot be able to recall the author. Google never fails, & the most convenient hit is often to Wiki: for this purpose I don't give a damn what their politics are.

And after death - are you sure that there will be somebody to carry on the corrections?

I have read suggestions of a left wiki - maybe we should devote energies to that instead?

Why don't you just open an account and change it? Here, I started by deleting the Hudson Institute crap:

Last edit I'll make, though, otherwise I'll be accused of starting an "edit war," and do so want to avoid conflict escalation... but anyone else can help out.

People do realize that Wikipedia is the first reference source for millions of people, right?
