One reason the court might not agree and throw out the mandate is
because it is a corporate court and the insurance industry looses big
time if the mandate is made invalid.  The right is actually sort of
contorted on this one (big surprise!) because it does not want O-care
but it also is controlled by the insurance industry that wants the
mandate.

You are correct, the left should welcome the striking down of the
mandate but not the entire law (unless you think it should get worse
before it gets better).
