However, the Financial Times had a story just yesterday about how US manufacturing is growing due in part to the lower US$. True there is always speculative bubbles when you have a loose monetary policy, but the fact that US corps are sitting on record amounts of cash would also lend to speculative bubbles. The stock market does seem to be completely detached from the real world lately and I have already expressed my thoughts on the role of speculation in commodities (which are a type of hedge against the economy overheating due to a bubble).
