There were 89 million production/nonsupervisory workers employed in the U.S. last month, 82% of the private sector workforce. What are they, chopped liver?

=====

And that "nonsupervisory" phase conceals a rather large number who should be included in the total. I only know much about the post-office and the university, but in both the line between "supervisor" and "worker" is extremely thin.

Does the number you give also exclude "public" employees? The unemployed?

Is there any estimate available on the size of the "reserve army of labor"? If social security is cut (or fails to keep up with the cost of living) that "army" will increase in size.
