``Japan's Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency admitted that the disaster was a level 5, which is classified as a crisis causing 'several radiation deaths' by the UN International Atomic Energy...''

Today on Democracy Now they had somebody who estimated 6.5 which of course sounded more like it to my totally biased ears.

I feel for the guys working there, the military and fire crews. Most of them can't or won't refuse duty.

Here is an amazing photograph:

The half-dome with the thumb hole is a beryllium shell that reflects neutrons from a plutonium core inside. The screwdriver is used to keep the shell from closing and turning the plutonium critical. Like most screwdriver operations, it failed and cooked Louis Slotin with 21sv or 2100rems in a second.

But nevermind that. Look at the `lab'. Coke bottles, ash trays, shop brush, and cloth glove for protection? Where is the half eaten ham sandwich? What are those two small spheres in front, plutonium cores? Guess where the neutrons and gamma rays are going when they are not reflected.
