Prof Emeritus, at least two people have weighed in on this with some knowledge of the genre. Michael Smith says that West bears no relation to the many black preachers he's heard. And Adolph Reed has offered biographical evidence that West has no history at all with the genre that most people associate him with.
He's a charlatan who pulls down a million a year - as our dear former listmember Rakesh once reported - peddling snake oil.
