[lbo-talk] Chavez jumps the shark

It´s amazing how he fell into the trap. Chavez is usually not a repressive rules. In Venezuela, the rabid opposition is free to mobilize whenever they want. He doesn´t shoot protesters or jail them, and opposition even makes wins in Congress.

So, to see him side with Middle East autocrats is troubling for me.

I think he fears the same "conspiracy" will be used against him. But paranoia has a limit... everyone and his mother can see that people in Siria want an end to the near 50 years old "state of emergency" for instance.
