Lots of people who should have been better fucked over the grad students at Yale. But Cronon has been at Wisconsin for quite awhile, and they have the longest continuous history of graduate student unionization in the country, so Cronon has made his peace with grad student unions. Since the grad student union was prominent in the movement in Madison, and since Cronon started a blog that prominently defended them and the other public sector unions before he was targeted (or, to put it more strongly, he was targeted because his blog defended the unions of grad students, among others), I think we can count him on the side of the angels on this one. He was wrong at Yale; he's been right in Wisconsin.

In the sense of solidarity, yes. He wasn't there for them then, but he wants us there for him now.
