The Green Party won its first seat as well. The leader Elizabeth May was elected in a BC riding. But then Canadians also just handed a majority to a leader who was defeated on a motion that found him in contempt of parliament. The separatist Bloc Quebecois lost all but four seats. A woman running for the NDP won in Quebec even though she went on vacation to Las Vegas during the campaign.
