just wondered if anyone else feels a need to use 'scare quotes', and if the urge to use them seems to be increasing? 

I guess I'm not sure what they're intended to say about the content of the quotes, or if there are guidelines for their use. I think that my incline is to use them around words which I suspect of having too many meanings.
