And it hardly matters for purposes of the blogosphere, twitterverse, and so on. Whatever S-K's specific policies were, or hoped to achieve, they are irrelevant to the ghastly symbolism of the story.

And how was Eliot Spitzer "purged"? He gave his political enemies the perfect vehicle to destroy him, and he knew it, and they did.
