Hah! Sheer nonsense. Up to the last few decades u.s. papers practically NEVER reported on the sexual activities of the rich and famous. Several presidents had mistresses. Kennedy had a woman every day for lunch hour. And so forth.
Probably this is a good reason not to read newspapers -- too much cultural analysis that is utter nonsense. It rots themind.
