Goldman is mostly a hedge fund: 'On average, around 68 percent of Goldman's revenues and profits are derived from trading.' (wikipedia)

It's investment banking division (underwriting and M&A) brings in only about 17% of their revenue. (wikipedia)

Which makes the question of why the government should care about Goldman even more interesting (apart from the interconnected/systemic risk canard/argument.)
