I think it should be official, UC Berkeley should be no longer called Cal or Berkeley

it should be renamed John Yoo University

years of anti-terrorism, Patriot Act, double think and new speak, briefings and trainings have had a very deep impression on an already conservative university

Berkeley in 2011 is not Berkeley in 1969

rent control is long gone, rents are exhorbitant thanks to UC professor Searle http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Searle#Politics free tuition is long gone, tuition has just been further increased, and students pay a commercial rate for loans that can never be discharged food and other costs are expensive, the food crisis continues part-time student employment is hard to get and the conditions hard, pay is low the average student works 25-35 hours a week, try to study full time on that? its impossible students are not stoned, on LSD, they drink a lot of coffee and work students are not radical and militant, they are conservative and hard working, there is no other way to get into Cal and to stay there students are not communists, moaists, take your pick, most are internet-generation literate and rarely doctrinaire students are not political, they are protesting because they are being badly screwed, so much so, that only rich kids will be able to afford to take the time to study and live in Berkeley students are not self indulgent and self-entitled, they have been increasingly accepting lower and lower expectations and greater burdens, to historic levels students are not doing free love, they would get AIDS etc students are not violent, they are keyboard kids students are not smelly hippies, they are clean, well dressed, fashion concious consumers geared up for professional life

there is this notion that its like 1969 in Berkeley and its false for students

whereas in Nixonland/Reaganland in the upper echelons of John Yoo's university

I stumbled on the Occupy Berkeley event the day when the police batoned students, especially with the violent jabbing movement, which can damage internal organs, for woman it could be reproductive or foetus damaging

a peaceful protest is unlawful and actually a non-lethal war zone holding arms together while protesting is a violent act, deserving batoning democratic protest and civil disobedience is unlawful & therefore deserves disproprotionate responses questioning police, itself is taunting police, is provocative & therefor a violent act, as students are clearly spoilt, self-entitle, dirty jabbing a student or protestor with a baton made of kevlar or aluminum, penetrating their flesh by inches is not violent a highly trained, physically fit, large and strong police man is under attack from violent students who hold hands talking to a police men is taunting and is a provocative and violent act arresting students for endangering the the safety of a child, and sending that child to welfare care is justified by health & safety

George Orwell must be turning in his grave and John Yoo must be writing a new book

the Doctrine of Beyond Zero Tolerance
